The Q-See QSNDVR is a security DVR that you can use to record the activities within multiple locations within your home or business. As the DVR can accommodate up to 16 surveillance cameras you have plenty of options when deciding on camera placement. At the rear of the DVR you will find 16 BNC sockets for your surveillance cameras, at maximum it can record video at up to 120 frames per second. For monitoring video footage you can connect the DVR to a PC monitor or television, the system is fitted with both VGA and S-Video video outputs.

The DVR can display and record video at a maximum pixel resolution of 720*480 and it can play back video at a maximum rate of 480 FPS. Q-See has incorporated MPEG 4 video compression into the DVR, when monitoring the system you can view camera footage full screen. Alternatively you can view multiple cameras attached to the DVR on one monitor, at maximum you can monitor up to nine cameras attached to the DVR simultaneously.

The DVR has a USB port so if needed you can attach a CD or DVD writer to the system and use that to back up video footage. The DVR has the capacity to accommodate up to four hard drives, on the downside there is no hard drive included with the DVR. You can install standard IDE hard drives to the DVR that are of the same type you find in everyday PC’s. Q-See have included full instructions with the DVR to show you how to fit hard drives to the system, the process only takes a few minutes.

An RS485 socket has been fitted to the DVR so you can control PTZ cameras attached to the system. External alarms can also be attached to the DVR through one of its 16 alarm inputs, the system also has one alarm output. When alarms attached to the system are triggered it will automatically start recording , you can also set the DVR to record at specific times or constantly. The Q-See DVR will also start recording if the system detects motion on your attached surveillance cameras.

The QSNDVR also supports Internet Explorer and this can be used to monitor the cameras attached to the system from a remote location. To monitor the system remotely you will have to attach it to an existing LAN or Broadband connection through its Ethernet port.
